Rodrigo Sandoval Vega Gil was born in Mexico City in 1984. He graduated as Director of Photography from the University Centro de diseño, cine y televisión. His first feature film Martha –Dir. Marcelino Islas- premiered at the Critic’s Week in the International Film Festival in Venice. Martha won the FIPRESCI in the Motovun Film Festival In Croatia and the Silver Ariel for Best Actress in a Leading Role, Magda Vizcaíno.
Afterwards he shot two more feature films. Castration –Dir. Ivan Lowenberg- and Ocean Blues –Dir. Salomon Askenazi-. His first documentary feature was The Man Who Lived In a Shoe –Dir. Gabriella Gomez-Mont. These films have been in several film festivals such as Morelia, Montevideo, Distrital, Riviera Maya, Islantilla España, among others. In 2012 he shot his second documentary feature, The Wild Side –Dir. Mariana Paredes- which is currently in post production.
In 2013 he shot his fourth long feature film, The Incident (Dir. Isaac Ezban). This films had it’s premier in Fantastic Film Festival 2014 in Austin and continued to other festivals like, Sitges 2014, Busan International Film Festival 2014 and Vancouver International Film Festival in 2014, among others.
